What's your Social Media Goal for 2020? (Psst I share mine too!)

As 2019 draws to a close we also end a whole decade.

And what changes we have seen in social media over the last 10 years!

Back in 2010 Pinterest and Instagram both launched and Snapchat was to follow just 1 year later..…

Just 4 years before Twitter had launched and 2 years before that, the mighty Facebook.

What on earth will Social Media look like in 2030?!!

Well, I have ZERO doubt it’s going nowhere as a marketing tool … but I think there will be some serious shifts.

We’ve spent the last 10 years learning how to integrate social media into our daily lives using it both to network and buy products & services.

Now we need to learn how to manage social media to add to our lives and work for us as a marketing tool in business - not rule us or take away from actually living our lives.

One huge move recently was the removal of Likes on Instagram in a bid to improve mental wellbeing on the platform.

I am sure we’ll see a move towards people clearing out their feed AND spending less time on social media.

So when they do log on they are motivated and inspired by their feed and leave feeling positive and creative.

So over the next 10 years I for one will be championing a more gentle approach to social media both for myself and my clients.

How will you be moving into 2020?

What will your social media goal be for 2020?

social media marketing

I’m advising all my clients to take just 1 hour to delve into their insights and look back at what content worked for you over the last year.

Think about these points:

  1. What was your objective? e.g. brand awareness? Increased enaggement? Did you achieve it?

  2. Which content did customers/clients love and respond to?

  3. Was it a particular format e.g. IGTV over Image?

  4. Was it a personal post about you/your business or your products/services?

  5. Did it look a certain way/use particular colours that stood out better in the feed?

  6. Did it drive tangible business?

And then have a think anecdotally - what do you think really worked for you this year. e.g. it doesn’t show up in my Insights but Voicenotes as a way to approach clients and communicate with them worked really well for me.
