How I keep myself up to date .... so you don't have to!

Keeping up with the plethora of social media blogs, podcasts and enewsletters is a full time job in itself …. not to mention all those free webinars we sign up to and never actually use!

Today I want to share with you the top ways I stay ahead of the curve in this fast paced world of social media marketing:

Blogs

Social Media Examiner

Michael Stelzner hosts easy to comprehend blogs on all the latest in social media.

A piece I’ve found super useful recently is ‘How to get started on Business Manager’ for getting clients up and running on this vital tool.

Plus he’s just released his 11th annual social media study (46 pages, 60+ charts) of 4800+ marketers, you'll discover which social networks marketers most plan on using, organic social activities, paid social media plans, and much more!  Head to www.socialmediaexaminer.com to get it delivered straight to your Inbox.

Social Media Today

…. does what it says on the tin! They deliver the very latest in social media straight into my inbox on a daily basis so I am always in the know

It was here I found out recently that Pinterest is working on a new ‘complete the look’ feature to help users find more relevant product matches!

Later

Laters emails not only look brilliant so they’re easy to digest but they’re packed with fantastic tips.

It was here I got some great tips on the New Rules for Instagram Hashtags and found out you can now sipe up on posts to see exactly how many people found your content through your hashtags! (see below for a demo)

Podcasts

Social Media Marketing with Michael Stelzner (Social Media Examiner)

Michael is brilliant at showcasing success stories and inviting guest experts on to discuss the latest changes in social media and how you as a business can make the most of them.

What I love are their actionable tips so I leave each podcast taking away great tactics for both mine and my clinets’ businesses.

I highly recommend one of their latest podcasts on how to use IGTV for marketers (Episode 354) and a trly insightful one recently was ‘Facebook declining for Marketers:New Report’

The Science of Social Media (Buffer)

Every Monday on this podcast, Buffer shares the latest strategies to take your social media marketing to the next level.

I find this podcast a little too scripted for me BUT it is packed with stats and really valuable insights to shape your social media strategy - so it’s a must-listen.

A key episode to listen to is ‘The Most Essential (and surprising) Social Media Statistics’ where the presenters run through audience numbers and demographics for each social media channel - and some of the numbers really are surprising so go and check it out!

In the moment updates

If you want all the updates as they happen straight into your pocket I highly recommend Social Chains Whatsapp messaging service - get stats and insights straight to your phone, every day.

Training

Back in 2015 I invested in an intensive 6 month training strategic social media management programme with Digital Mums.

After a few years experience as a Social Media Manager both inhouse and as a freelancer, I identified that more and more clients are wanting to upskill and invest in paid advertising. So in 2018 I embarked on a 3 month intensive training programme to become a Facebook/Insta Advertising Strategist.

Trained by Emma van Heusen (1 of the leading Facebook Ads gurus and trained by Facebook themselves), I’ve been able to pass all I have learned onto my clients so that they feel empowered to run their own faceook ad campaigns.

Continually committed to learning, this year, with the boom of Pinterest and more clients asking for training in both Pinterest strategy and promoted pins I’m currently training in both - so get ready to book your session from September….. Watch this space!
