5 Reasons Why Pinterest Is Fast Becoming My Favourite New Tool

If you’re a visual person like me you probably already use Pinterest in your personal life.

Whether it’s to plan your next holiday, use it as a mood board for your new baby’s nursery, search for helathy recipes or play ideas for the kids… Pinterest is an incredible place!

It’s also growing day by day and now being used strategically by all kinds of businesses - so you don’t have to be a wedding venue or a florist to Pinterest to see great results!

Pinterest is a visual search engine and NOT a social media channel - shock horror! But this is exactly how Pinterest describe themselves.

In just over 2 months I have grown from zero to 4.2k unique viewers and I wanted to share some of the ways I’m using it which I hope will inspire you to head on over and give this incredible tool a whirl for your business….

Secret boards - I use these in 2 ways :

1) To create secret boards to brainstorm content for social media strategies for clients

2) To find new content for Instagram and Facebook and create a secret board to collate them

I recently worked with milliner Hiorns Hats who I advised to offer a new service where clients can set up a secret board to save their outfit ideas / colour inspiration / bouquet pics so that she can get inside her clients head to make them their dream wedding headpiece.

There’s no engagement - as much as I’m a hige advocate for building relationships with your community on Instagram and Facebook I LOVE that there’s no enagagement to be done on Pinterest!

So it’s quick to manage, I can do it at the school gates, at the gym and in the bath! Just 10 minutes a day and I’ve hit my quota for the day to ensure the algorithm knows I’m consistent.

I can use it to drive web traffic back to my website - when I post a blog or create a new page I have linked my Squarespace site with my Pinterest account and share the images on Pinterest.

I can import my Instagram posts onto Pinterest - making it super easy to share content and even quicker to manage as a busy business owner!

Plus it’s got free analytics so I can continuously make improvements to the content I’m sharing based on what pinners wnat to see.

I’m also investigating Rich Pins as I know this is key to getting my content seen. Rich Pins provide more context about an idea because they show extra information directly on a Pin … so I will report back!
